Sarah Klein is a mother, an advocate, and a survivor of child sexual abuse.
As a former competitive gymnast, Sarah is one of the first publicly known survivors of Larry Nassar’s abuse. In July 2018, she accepted the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage at the ESPYs on behalf of herself and the hundreds of other survivors of Nassar’s sexual abuse.
Past recipients of the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage include Nelson Mandela, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, and Robin Roberts.
Sarah’s perspective is shaped by lived experience and years of listening to families, survivors, and professionals navigating some of the most difficult moments imaginable. Too often, adults miss warning signs, minimize concerns, or respond in ways that unintentionally cause further harm.
Her work centers on helping adults understand what to look for, how to respond appropriately when concerns arise or a child discloses abuse, and how to avoid common mistakes that silence or retraumatize children after safety has been compromised.
